I created this work in Boulder, Co in the USA. From 1990 to 1991 I spent a year as a guest student at Naropa University, a buddhist college. Besides that I worked in a painting studio. What started as a warm-up exercice - one picture at the beginning of the work in the studio - eventually became a project of its own.
I stitched the sheets together in weekly stripes, hung the stripes on a bamboo construction and finally created a performance together with a dancer and a storyteller.
